A Quiet Place Part II

A Quiet Place Part II

Even better than the first, and the first was already great. John Krasinski said he only wanted to make a sequel if he could come up with a story he loved and this is one of the few times where that's been said and it actually seems to be the case. A Quiet Place didn't *need* a sequel, but damn this was such a great direction to take the story in. So fucking intense, Krasinski's direction gets better with every new movie (any The Hollars stans out there?), you care even more about the characters this time, the cinematography and score are better than your typical horror movie, the great sound design better not get snubbed just like the first ones' did, and it's 90 minutes long and doesn't feel any longer, once again great pacing! Whereas Emily Blunt was the standout of the cast in the first movie, in this movie I think it's close between Cillian Murphy, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds. Murphy is a great addition, I don't think he's ever been better, while Jupe and Simmonds deserve to be stars (I couldn't bear that one scene). Their three characters, especially the kids, have such satisfying and organic character arcs. I just love that these are more than your average monster movies and Krasinski is able to fit in personal themes and messages that he's clearly passionate about. They all hit so hard.
