Mysterio Theatre 💀🔪🩸’s review published on Letterboxd:
I finally let my almost-12 year old son watch Big Trouble in Little China for the first time with me. He laughed. He repeated great one liners. He flashed me the Chang Sing street gang sign every time he enjoyed something in the movie.
I think his favorite scene was at the beginning of the climactic battle when Jack shouted and shot his gun in the air, only to blast chunks of cement down on his head and knock himself out cold. And, my kid leapt a few inches into the air during the final jump scare, which was really funny for me to watch.
Kurt Russell is so flipping hilarious in this film. It's my 2nd favorite John Carpenter movie after Halloween (1978). Sometimes it's my #1 favorite.

Jack Burton: What does that mean? huh? ‘China is here?’ I don’t even know what the hell that means! All I know is this Lo Pan character comes out of thin air in the middle of a goddamned alley, while his buddies are flying around on wires, cutting everybody to shreds...and he just stands there, waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him?! With LIGHT coming out of his mouth?!
