    The Power of the Dog

Certainly one of the most interesting films of the year with an explosive and measured Benedict Cumberbatch performance. A slow burn western that's quite a nuanced character study on surface and suppressed emotions, Masculinity, desire, love and revenge: each layered enough to take you aback and haunt you even after the credits roll. I saw what was coming before the reveal but I still found myself having a very rewarding experience. Jane Campion's direction is solid and so is the camera work and score by Jonny Greenwood. Totally dug it.

    Memories of Matsuko

The only two people who loved Matsuko in her life were her sister and Best-friend. Men did her dirty. Every single one of them. Her life was a tragedy, she went through hell. She smiled like a bright star, she was clumsy, unhappy but she always gave.

There's so much of bright neon pops, idiosyncratic characters, outrageous costumes, broadway like production design and music that doesn't sync with the scenes in here. But at the core there is an impressive…

I am in a fucking sobbing mess and I haven't stopped like its been over three hours since I finished watching this. I couldn't write anything then and I am unable to gather words even now. I'm a mommy's girl so this hit me like a bullet train, even harder. Every single relationship in this story is beautiful. My eyes overflowed like a broken tank during that sign language scene especially. Terminal Illness is a melodramatic trope done to death,…

Well James Wan tricked you into a haunted house template story to deliver you a glorious action set-piece. Action-Horror is a sexy genre me thinks If you go in blind. This is a 3 star material for me but 3.5 stars for tricking, luring and flocking jumpscare-horror fanatics at the box office to deliver something less formulaic but very predictable. The acting was bad from everyone though.

Love myself a harmless fluffy hong kong romantic comedy. Takeshi Kaneshiro is the love of my life and I can't believe they made him third wheel like bro why would he? Also wait... I just realised it was Indeed Leslie Cheung in a cameo damn!

When there's so much going on in life, watching slow cinema where basically nothing happens but ends on a satisfactory note is therapeutic. Nawapol knows how to do it.

Ryusuke Hamaguchi, what have you done to me? I mean your mind astounds me. This is how you do anthologies, Indian film makers take notes. I loved every story to bits. But the last one broke me into pieces. In conclusion, WOMEN! ❤

There can't be a better tribute to the Legend on his 70th birthday than watching this mother of all comebacks. Still in Awe! Dennis Joseph you will be missed. And Mammookka, there cannot be another one.

Noah Jupe is a terrific actor and I can never have enough of him. Besides that meh. There's nothing left for another part to this.

Rewatching before part 2 because my bestie is not ready to watch a Japanese coming of age film with me.
