The more musicals-that-are-actually-star-vehicles-for-pop-stars I watch, the more convinced I am that Bradley Cooper caught lighting in a bottle with A Star Is Born beacuse these movies are *not* good.
Madonna did a fine job but she just doesn't have the range for these songs. The visual style was bafflingly dark and gritty for an upbeat musical and the amount of unnecessary Dutch angle shots gave me a headache. Antonio Banderas' character was what kept me engaged by providing interesting commentary but still, it wasn't enough.
