i think i still like this one a tad more than the first. it’s probably young Timothy Olyphant’s presence but i’d also argue that Sydney as the toughed up survivor makes this quite the different story to Scream. trauma and revenge themes get remixed and although it’s overly keen on the sequel jokes they still kinda slap, as does the comedy in general. Wes Craven just like that kickstarted a whole movement of ironic (and iconic) horror cinema with this franchise.
