Great cast plus one of my fave themes (coming of age story) makes
an interesting watch for me.
If we go back to 2005 I could tell you a story where I was 16 and for a week I made everyone call me by a different name. I was dead serious about that, just like Lady Bird was, lol. And then that week passed and I was no longer into that thing.
Yes, she does the typical teenage mistakes (experiences you go through) you have to in order to grow up and establish yourself, but she's not evil like many of the teenage characters seem to be in similar stories. Lady Bird is still grateful, not malicious, very sweet and naive girl. And she's also very strong-willed, she knows what she wants and tries to achieve her goals even if they're somewhat out of her reach.
And I also could relate to her family situation. Her parents are very similar in characteristics to mine, but the roles are reversed, my dad is controlling and tough like Lady Bird's mom, and my mom is just like her dad, sweet and calm, there, in between, stopping our fights.
Very common story, but told from another angle. I applaud Greta Gerwig.
