somebody needs to give me back those 2 hours of my life because i can NOT with this movie. supremely bothered by the praise i'm seeing being heaped on what was ultimately an experience that (objectively) delivered nothing.
the story arc was predictable and lacked any sense of tension; every "twist" loudly announced itself before playing out in ways that were even more mediocre than originally imagined. i cared about nary a single character because they didn't exist beyond EXPOSITION, least so the "protagonist" with whom we're supposed to empathize. i'm all for subversion, i'm all for exploring trauma and notions of revenge, but to strap us into this journey and arrive where we did? absolutely not.
this will be lauded for its banal use of pink and blue as "motif," quippy and "awkward" dialogue, strong (white) 𝒢𝐼𝑅𝐿𝐵𝒪𝒮𝒮™ ethos, and self-aware post-me-too framing, but this is the pits of modern filmmaking. 0 bars and 0 stars don't @ me sis
i also streamed this illegally to save $20 and have never wanted to announce it more. lock me up! :)
