Carol

Carol ★★★★

The old axiom of queer storytelling of the "daddy" role swapped genders. Thankfully paraded more as subtext than on the surface. Constantly busy frame; only whats important in focus. Muted period colors; timeless 50s. Like the characters themselves nothing in the film draws attention to itself. Carter Burewell compliments each scene like Blanchett's garbs compliment her consistently striking features. Cathartic sad and accurate to winter: somehow comfy. Its wonderful.

Compliments of the season from the management.
