Joe’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is a shockingly bad script for Shane Black. Structure is thrown out the window and all the gags and development feel inserted instead of organic. Its a super first draft but gosh dangit man keep working on it. Shane Black is also really bad at shooting and editing for comedy which is so bizarre to me since he made Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. To clean for its aesthetic. Feels imitation. I also thought that blue faced villain was Max Landis.
But Goose is fun. His physical comedy is on point. Crowe's the right kind of straight man. They're a good duo. It saves a lot of it. Good not great. Mostly just glad these sort of movies get made so maybe my score's a bit lenient. But can I fully hate a movie with Keith David? The answer is yes: Crash.
