I felt so more in tune with the characters and their emotions this time around. I related to Elio’s posturing instead of feeling distanced by it; I related to Oliver’s hesitation instead of labeling it as dickishness. I felt truly at the mercy of the film. Despite this being a second viewing, it all felt new and real and vibrant. Infinitely more satisfying on a second watch.
