Captain Marvel ★★★½

Few things are more annoyingly on-the-nose than the last five minutes of this movie, and the fact it doubles down on the very last scene angers me to no end. Still, I refuse to believe all of the criticisms towards Carol Danvers as a character and especially towards Brie Larson's highly expressive performance. This is closer to mid-tier level for the Marvel Cinematic Universe than I remember - there are no remarkable action scenes to speak of, and the third act revelations don't do much more than provide a brief surprise in the narrative - but it's a good example of how being "mid-tier" isn't so bad when they are often breezy and enjoyable superhero romps.
