Led by an complex and powerful performance from Oscar Isaac this episodic yet carefully crafted stumble through the early 60s New York folk scene is a masterclass in understated poignancy and great original storytelling. Warm and witty, yet subtle and haunting; it's definitely top five Coens material for me. Their best in years.
