Drive ★★★★★

"If I drive for you, you get your money. You tell me where we start, where we're going, where we're going afterwards. I give you five minutes when we get there. Anything happens in that five minutes and I'm yours. No matter what. Anything a minute on either side of that and you're on your own. I don't sit in while you're running it down. I don't carry a gun. I drive."

Drive is in my opinion hands down, my Favourite Film of All Time. If you haven't watched this film already, then do yourself a favour and go watch it. Yes this film is not for everybody. In fact, If you enjoy Arthouse movies, then you'll enjoy it, however if you don't think Arthouse films are really that appealing or it's not your type of film, then you probably should stay away from this film. But for me, I couldn't take my eyes of this Absolute Masterpiece, and I'll tell you why.

This film is so carefully edited and paced to the point where I was glued to the seat, The Soundtrack in this film, is one of the coolest soundtracks in Film, it's very retro, very 80s, especially Kavinsky - Nightcall in the Opening Sequence, which was just amazing. Not only that but The Opening Sequence was so well done, This is honestly the best Opening Sequence right in front of Deadpool. This film is directed beautifully by Nicolas Winding Refn, especially that chase sequence.

The Cinematography in the film is also perfect, especially the night time sequences, the Cinematography in this film looks immaculate. The Cinematography is done to perfection, the lighting, the colours looks so realistic, it's almost too good to be true.

Now I've read reviews of this film, and a lot of people say the same thing, that the film hasn't got much action and there were only two car chase sequences, yes there aren't many chase sequences, but I disagree. I'll tell you why, us movie audiences if you look back at the trailers, they all marketed it as like a Fast and Furious movie with lots of action, but the truth is that it's far from that, sure there are a few action scenes here and there, but it's mainly focused on the story, and the characters, which are all done perfectly. And I'll be honest, some of the action sequences are pretty terrifying especially a shootout scene which I won't spoil, just in case you haven't seen this film because this is a must see.

The performances are top-notch. Ryan Gosling gives one of the best performances of his entire career, his character is known as The Driver, you don't know much about him, he has very minimal dialogue, but as you get invested further into the story, you know what type of person he is just from his expressions, same with Carey Mulligan, you can tell what kind of character she is just from her expressions as you get further and deeper into the story, these are huge achievements on Gosling's part, as well as Carey Mulligan's part.

I won't spoil the ending, but that is one of the most suspenseful and perfect conclusions that I've seen in Film History. It's the best they've could have done in my opinion, it's pretty sad, when you really think about it.

So in the end, this film is a masterpiece that must be seen by everyone at least once in their lifetime, because everything about this film is perfection.
