Had a lot more fun than I thought I would going in. Jake Gyllenhaal was awesome as Mysterio and is responsible for why I liked the film so much.
The problems with the film are mostly from incredible predictability but that's always what happens when you involve a character like Mysterio. There's pretty much only one way you can write the story and I guess every single thing from the announcement of his involvement. While that detracts from any of the surprises and makes you feel like you're just going through the motions in some parts - I have never been as wowed by a superhero film moment like the Mysterio vs Spider-Man at the construction site. The effects, the trippy animation and the sound effects all made me just awestruck.
"Why has Scarecrow never had something like this?" I thought.
Tom Holland is still great but I was surprised at how much better Zendaya was as MJ. Still not the biggest fan, but I do like her character a lot more now so that's a plus going forward. I just wish the comedy was a little better and that I didn't feel like I had written this Mysterio movie when I was 9 years old due to the predictability.
