I have refrained from watching films of plays during quar because I thought they would just hit different in a bad way and make me intensely mourn not being able to go the theater during the plague years, but this was magnificent and entrancing. The pathos! The magic! The storytelling! The surprise celebrity cameos and that one audience member who uncannily looked like Killer Bob from Twin Peaks! The way I felt seen via watching all these people be seen! I wish had gotten to see this performed on the stage.
