“Because when you have a catchphrase, the world is catched by your phrase” Oh DJ Khaled...😂
Parodying a powerhouse industry of sell-out-crowd superstar singers, Popstar takes to the stage with exploding egos, fake fans and laugh-out-loud lyrics.
It is a clever chart-topping effort from Samberg, Schaffer and Taccone. The Lonely Island create some hysterical sequences and the most EXTRA stage production. Several of the musical numbers absolutely killed me - the Mona Lisa track especially. The script plays to Samberg’s strengths (who in my eyes can do no wrong) and the inspired celebrity cameos are a genuine delight. I wish there was more of Maya Rudolph though. Has the “DEBOARRAH” name been a thing pre-Popstar though, as I’ve actually been calling my friend Debbie that for what must’ve been the past decade. She probably hates me for it but 🤷♂️
