Ian West’s review published on Letterboxd:
I dig 90’s made for tv aquatic horror movies like The Beast from 1996 (William Peterson!), and although Sea Beast came out in 2008, there’s plenty of those vibes here—they play it straight and have that very distinct feel to them that’s perfect for early afternoon lazy hazy stuck on the couch jam.
The sea beast is shitty cg but it still looks kinda cool, and said beast has Predator cloaking device, spits a crippling venom like the Dino in Jurassic Park, and has Predator style POV beast vision (!!!). Can’t really complain about any of that, or the numerous flip phone sightings, or the sleepy bay village this takes place at... but I do wish more of this took place at sea.
Sea Beast delivered exactly what I wanted—Old Skool sci fi channel vibes and a pretty sweet beheading.
