Masculin Féminin

Masculin Féminin ★★★★

An interesting film to be sure, in a sort of middle ground between his earlier work and his political films (from what I've heard of them). Leaud and the rest of the cast turn in excellent performances, the cinematography is still excellent even without Coutard, and Godard manages to pull off his almost documentary-like style well, keeping the viewer engaged with the long conversations that form almost the entire film. Accurately capturing the restless zeitgeist of the youth culture right before the 1968 protests, this is a valuable document-as-film of the times, a great film.
