Jojo Rabbit

Jojo Rabbit ★★★½

What I've come to realise with Taika Waiti is that while his sense of humour doesn't always land with me, the more emotional and serious parts of his films are always really well done.

This film got better for me as it went on, ten minutes in I was worried I wasn't going to like it, the Nazi training camp humour was cute at first but it got old really fast for me. This is why when poor JoJo got himself blown up, I was actually quite happy, as I knew there was a chance the rest of the film could take place away from the training camp setting. It did, and the film gradually improved and won me over. Towards the end I was quite emotional.
