Jojo Rabbit

Jojo Rabbit ★★★★½

While Scarlett Johansson and the kid were both great, I thought Thomasin McKenzie had the best performance - she was absolutely terrific.

The film is hilarious owing to the dialogue between the leads as well as the smaller roles such as Sam Rockwell’s Nazi officer and Stephen Merchant’s Gestapo officer. If anything, I felt that Waititi’s Hitler wasn’t even needed as a plot device for representing the changes in the Nazi kid’s ideology, although it does make for some fantastic moments. Oh, and I didn’t need the dancing scenes. Both the Johansson one and the one at the end just felt weird.
