The Devil All the Time

The Devil All the Time ★★★

I knew nothing about the movie going into it and was better than I expected. This movie was incredibly dark with some great performances. Tom Holland was surprisingly good in the lead role. He’s very subdued, which was interesting to see from him. His character also required some grit and Holland was surprisingly believable as the foul mouthed rough edged guy. Some great supporting performances from Riley Keough, Eliza Scanlan and Bill Skarsgård help bring some credible performances to elevate the script. The most over the top performance in the movie is Robert Pattinson, he’s really going for it here. He’s so wild he’s almost in a different movie, yet he never loses the movie and overall he was my favorite performance in the movie. The problem I had with the movie is that the story is so sprawling that it does feel somewhat disjointed. The script feels like it was broken up into segments. Overall the performances elevate the script to definitely make this a movie worth checking out.
