Moonfall 2022
Much like Emmerich’s hit 2012 (2009), MOONFALL (2022) is a very ‘my shit’ movie. The perfect flick to stumble into playing on cable at like 3 pm on a Tuesday. Unlike 2012 (2009) which dares to ask the question ‘what if 2012?’, this film dares to ask the question ‘what if the moon fell?’
Emmerich, a known master of disaster, makes some puzzling choices in this outing; fawning over Elon Musk being paramount. There’s also a very long expository scene…

Nights of Cabiria 1957
Hot take: this movie is really great. My favorite from the Trilogy of Grace and I feel the strongest. Bolstered by an increased budget the production design is vastly improved from La Strada and Il Bidone. The perfect blend of how lonely being human can be as well as how hard it is to persevere. Absolutely love Fellini.

The Godfather 1972
Caught a screening of the new restoration at Coolidge Corner Theater with my extremely Italian mom. It’s one of her favorite movies and she’s only ever seen it on tv. She had such a fun time and it was a special day. Followed it up with chicken parm and arancini. 🤌🤌 indeed.
