    Masterful Korean thriller cinema.

A series of Coen Brothers-esque misfortunes sends a small group of characters spiraling toward their individual demise. Should we ought to have sympathy for ALL of these sad and broken people; or, are all of these punishments the consequences of their sins? Excellent storytelling and precise filmmaking are the backbone of this outstanding movie hailing from South Korea.

This movie is pretty bland and unwatchable, save for a typically outstanding performance by Daniel Day Lewis. He is menacing, mean, xenophobic and abusive.

This is truly a cinematic masterpiece! John Carpenter creates a perfect petri dish of tension, paranoia, isolation, bleak hopelessness and terror. His patient camerawork is greatly accentuated by his pitch-perfect original musical score. Much like his work on "Halloween", Carpenter creates a haunting sense of dread that pitches and swells as we begin to look over our shoulder and begin to suspect everyone else - just like the crew of US Outpost 31 Research Station.
