Jojo Rabbit

Jojo Rabbit ★★★★½

"Let me give you some good advice. Be the rabbit. The humble bunny can outwit all of his enemies. He's brave, and sneaky, and strong. Be the rabbit."

Merry Christmas!

Jojo Rabbit is equally heartwarming and heartbreaking. It's a suitably endearing look at humanity during the dark times. Though it doesn't actually prove its label as an "antihate satire," (because wow, I still hate THEM!!!) Taika Waititi's attempt to touch on that is still commendable. There's a "leg-hug" scene that broke me. That kid is a really good actor.

If you think Parasite has the best kick of the year, you're wrong. It's this! Jojo's strong rejection to "Heil" his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler, and his thick utterance of "F*ck off, Hitler," is an absolute joy to see in a film that continues to uphold the idea that the N**i regime was still one of, if not the worst, thing that ever happened to the entire history of humanity.
