A few things I love and a few things I definitely don’t. Definition of a mixed bag but I think the incredible score and pretty much everything with Sidney Palmer and Jack Conrad made the movie for me. Really not a fan of Damien Chazelle’s “histoire du cinema” thing at the end there, I think my man is in a bit over his head.

Still, not rooting for this to fail at all and the depressing box office adds another layer of bleakness to this movie as an unintentional swan song for the sorta riskier high-budget films with no legacy director attached that have some semblance of a creative voice and wants more than just to please an audience. Sigh.
