"what's your dream?"
cinematic serotonin. this is almost three hours long and not much happens, but it still managed to be one of the most cathartic films i've experienced in some time. it's calming, joyful, depressing, infuriating, and pretty much every other emotion a human can experience. it's like i was watching real people - and i know i say that a lot but i especially mean it now. it's a portrait of poverty and class division in the southern and midwestern u.s., and it executes those themes perfectly, but there's so much wrapped up within it all. sasha lane is breathtaking. shia labeouf is nothing short of brilliant. this film features stunning cinematography and one of my favorite uses of music in film ever.
so, yeah, i kind of hate myself for waiting this long to watch this. american honey is one that's gonna stick with me for a long time.
