    Super Dark Times

    ★★★½

This was not an easy film to rate. It made me feel super uncomfortable and I hated a lot of things that happened to the characters, but I guess that was the point? If you like downer movies then this is the one for you, but if you prefer your movies with a bit of optimism then stay clear! My biggest critique is that they could have put in more effort laying the groundwork for the twist that comes near…

  • Luca

    Luca

    ★★½

Did I watch the same movie as everyone else? Luca could best be summed up as FINE. But this is Pixar we’re talking about! The same studio that brought up the near perfect Toy Story trilogy (and the unnecessary but decent fourth movie), the beautiful and gorgeous love story of two robots in WALL-E, and one of the best superhero movies of all time before superhero movies were even popular with The Incredibles. Luca should not be classified anywhere near…

To anyone reading this review, please watch this! Like, as soon as you’re done reading this sentence go and find this movie because this movie needs way more recognition than it has! And if you do decide to watch it you’ve gotta give it your full attention. Silent your phone and just watch this because it is the kind of movie that demands your full attention, but it rewards you if you do.

  • The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)

The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)

    ★★★★

When it comes to Sandler and his Netflix films, most of them are awful and only try to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Films like Ridiculous 6 and Hubie Halloween immediately come to mind. But Sandler keeps cranking them out because for some reason people keep watching them! And then Sandler stars in an actual thoughtful story like this and gives an amazing performance.. and nobody watches it!! We need to give these kind of Sandler performances more attention…

  • The Wedding Singer

    The Wedding Singer

    ★★★★

I am a huge fan of Adam Sandler. He has shown plenty of times that he can be a serious actor, such as what he did in Uncut Gems. His comedic performances are a lot more difficult for me to connect with. But he can be very good as long as his character isn’t too over the top, which he accomplishes nicely here. I haven’t seen Blended, and I probably never will, but between this and 50 First Dates, Sandler…

  • The Farewell

    The Farewell

    ★★★½

I was really expecting this to hit me harder than it did. For whatever reason, I just didn’t connect with the characters as much as I thought so would. Still an endearing story with an interesting moral dilemma at its core.

  • Trainspotting

    Trainspotting

    ★★★½

This is about Renton, a man that is deeply entangled in the drug scene in Scotland and who tries his best to escape it. As a Canadian whose drug history begins and ends with smoking weed once two years ago, I can’t say this was even remotely relatable. And I was forced to turn on subtitles just to understand what anybody was saying. Despite all that, I would recommend this to anyone!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2

    ★★★

I’m going to review Mockingjay part 1 and 2 together here. I was a huge fan of the first two movies, but due to all the negative things I heard about these last two movies, it took me 6 years to finally get around to watching them. I will admit that they weren’t as bad as I feared but they still did not live up to the previous two, especially Catching Fire. The most frustrating thing is that this not…

  • My Cousin Vinny

    My Cousin Vinny

    ★★★★

Man, Pesci really is something else. He’s both amazing and intimidating in Scorsese’s gangster movies but can also hold his own in comedies like Home Alone and this. I’m a sucker for a good courtroom drama and this was no different!

    Favourite Character
Marisa Tomei was fantastic as Mona Lisa Vito, but if Pesci is involved he’s always going to be my favourite 🙏🏼

  • Predestination

    Predestination

    ★★★½

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

While this may be far from the best time travel movie I’ve ever seen it is one of the craziest! I haven’t even heard of this before I came across it on Netflix and decided to give it a shot. Definitely worth it! And while it may be heavy on the exposition, it has enough going on to keep you entertained. It also puts a whole new spin on the idea of self love 😂

  • Cruella

    Cruella

    ★★★½

What a pleasant surprise this was! Quite possibly my favourite Disney live action remake. Probably my main critique is that it’s far too long. There’s no reason this should’ve been over two hours. Also, Mark Strong was criminally underused. Other than that, a very fun prequel!

    Favourite Character
Cruella. Emma Thompson’s Baroness is the only other character that comes close but this is completely Emma Stone’s movie.

    Favourite Scene
The montage of Cruella upstaging the Baroness was great!
