    On the Count of Three

Last week I watched my two favourite movies of the year so far. One was Everything Everywhere All at Once and the other one was this. Seeing how EEAAO is getting plenty of attention I thought I’d talk about On the Count of Three.

Firstly, after seeing the trailer for this it immediately became my most anticipated movie. I mean, a dark comedy centred around a double suicide? How intriguing! And as someone who has studied mental health, depression, and…

I went to a party and this was the movie everyone voted on watching. I had never seen it before and was by no means excited to watch it, but I am shocked at how much I actually enjoyed it. I laughed through pretty much the whole movie!

    Favourite Character
Edna Turnblad. John Travolta was way funnier than he had any right being.

    Favourite Scene
    The matching scene.

    Best Quote
Penny: Without that show I have nothing!
    Prudy: Having nothing builds character!

    Fun Fact
It took Travolta four hours to transform into Edna.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

    ★★★★

This is one of those movies that I’ve been meaning to watch for the longest time and finally made myself watch it, and didn’t even realize till after that this was the perfect movie to watch considering everything currently going on. Anyways, this movie was hilarious and I’d definitely recommend!

    Favourite Character
Peter Sellers played a few characters in this film but the one who stole the show for me was the titular Dr. Strangelove.

    Favourite Scene
    The bomb scene…

Dennis Villeneuve is probably my favourite director working today. There hasn’t been one movie he’s made that I didn’t like. With that said, I’ve been putting off watching this one for sometime now. All I ever heard about it was how confusing it was and I was worried that this one wouldn’t captivate me like his other films.. and I would like to formally apologize to you Dennis for doubting you even for a minute!

    Favourite Character

    The Rock

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

There’s really not much to say about this one. Just your typical 90s Nic Cage action movie costarring Sean Connery about a group of mercenaries who take 80 people hostage on Alcatraz and demand $100 million from the government as reparation for fallen soldiers and if they don’t get the money they’ll kill 60,000-70,000 people in San Diego with a bio-weapon, and the only two people who can stop them is a mild-mannered chemist and an escape artist who’s been…

I LOVE the Scream franchise!! The original Scream is one of my all time favourite movies and while none of the other movies in the franchise meet the heights of the first one, I still enjoy every one of these films. And while it’s my least favourite film, I even enjoy all the campiness of the third movie. So, with that said I had very high expectations for this movie.. and I’m happy to say it met those expectations! It…

A biopic about one of the greatest music artists of all time played by one of the best actors of all time.. if you haven’t seen this yet you’re missing out!

    Favourite Character
Johnny Cash.. Despite looking nothing like him, you forget that you’re watching Phoenix instead of Cash himself.

    Favourite Scene
    Singing at Folsom Prison

I had rock bottom expectations for this one. And while it has its fair share of flaws, it was still much more enjoyable than what a lot of people made it out to be. With movies like The Dark World, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2 under its belt it’s a shame that this is the MCU’s first rotten movie.

    Favourite Character
Druig. Barry Keoghan has a unique screen presence and I’m intrigued by anything he does.

  • Spider-Man 2

    Spider-Man 2

    ★★★★½

Still the best Spider-Man movie of all time 👏🏼

    Favourite Character
Obviously, I loved Spider-Man here but Doctor Octopus is one of the best comic book villains ever put on screen.

    Favourite Scene
Hard to pick a better scene than the train scene.

    Best Quote
Doc Ock: [Learning that Peter is Spider-Man] Peter Parker..? Brilliant but lazy.

    Fun Fact
The two boys who hand Spider-Man his mask on the train are Toby Maguire’s half brothers.

My New Years resolution is to be better at logging the films I watch.. I think there’s no better way to kick off 2022 than with a movie I was meaning to watch all last year and didn’t get around to. And for anyone out there that considers themselves “messed up” while in high school could more than relate with this one!

One of the positives that came out of the pandemic is that it has allowed tome me to watch more movies. As I watched more I began to see there was a whole world of film I never let myself explore due to being unwilling to watch anything with subtitles. I’ve really put a focus on changing that these last few years.

The 2004 remake of The Grudge has a special place in my heart due to it being the…
