Dial M for Murder

Dial M for Murder ★★★★

I remember when I first saw this film many decades ago I thought the action was slow and the film was just ok. But I have seen the movie maybe five times since and now I think the film is quite good. The plot regarding the latch keys was rather confusing for me during my earlier viewings, but now I say it’s cleaver and ingenious.

Any shortcomings of the film can be overlooked by the wonderful acting. Ray Milland and Robert Cummings are just wonderful in their roles. Grace Kelly is even better and I think this is one of her best, if not her best, performance of her career. Grace is also gorgeous I might say. But nevertheless, Grace is in fact a sophisticatedly beautiful young women that one never ever tires of. Grace could just stand in front of the camera for 95 minutes and oh the plot would still be oh simply dreamy. Oh, Grace, Grace, Grace, you are so in my dreams and in my waking mind every minute of every day. My beautiful dear Grace. Snap out of it old boy... Another great performance is by John Williams (Chief Inspector) and he sort of steals the show with his warm mannerisms and wit. Of course John is not as alluring as Grace... I am not saying John is not attractive, but he does have that charming sophisticated air about him, but I digress. Back to Grace, did I mention that she is a real looker?

The acting is what make a this film great. The plot is very good as well and if you don’t agree,  then watch the film once or twice more. Nice job Mr. Hitchcock.
