I saw Midnight before I even saw the first two, so now this was my first time watching all three back-to-back. It goes without saying that I got a lot more out of this movie on this second viewing than I did the first time. How could I not? If the entire trilogy were symphony, Sunrise would be the first movement presenting its main motifs. Sunset would be the 2nd movement - a scherzo perhaps - that takes that the material and condenses it into a somewhat shorter but equally compelling experience whilst also introducing more material. Midnight is the final movement that takes all the previously presented themes and packages everything into a piece is immense power, and one which makes a final statement that gives new meaning to all that's come before. Beautiful.
