Suspiria

Suspiria

“Three Mothers, three gods, three devils. Mother Tenebrarum, Mother Lachrymarum, and Mother Suspiriorum. Darkness, tears, and sighs.”

This is not your mother’s Suspiria

Luca Guadagnino’s interpretation of Dario Argento’s classic 1977 film isn’t so much a remake as it is a movie that uses the original as a catalyst to create something entirely new. It’s equal parts beautiful and terrifying, gorgeous and sickening. Post-war denial in a Germany divided, the power of motherhood, shame, guilt, pain, anguish, sorrow... This is a movie that will divide people in the best of ways, and it’s one that must be seen to be believed.
