Noah Kern’s review published on Letterboxd:
I wasn’t really a fan of this. It wastes an hour attempting to build up tension, but it’s unsuccessful because the characters suck. It’s entirely boring for an hour, and even when the incident was happening I couldn’t wait for it to be over. It felt like it was trying to make a point, but it just came across as “violence is bad.” It takes subject matter that could be made into a genuinely interesting film and makes it as basic and boring as possible. By the end, I got nothing out of it and it honestly felt sort of pointless. I don’t really care to see Gus Van Sant’s ‘meditation’ on Columbine and school shootings. This rating could honestly go down in the future. I was totally disappointed by this and it’s the worst Palme d’Or I’ve seen by a mile.
