Noah Kern’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is criminally under appreciated in terms of the Coen Brothers’ filmography. I’m not going to call it a top three film from them or even a top five, but it’s just a really solid film. It’s a classic gangster story and it’s both wonderfully acted and written. I don’t have many gripes with it at all, and it left a bigger impression on me than I was expecting. I enjoyed it way more than I was expecting too. I’d love to rewatch it sometime soon because admittedly I fell asleep last night while watching this (not because the film was boring, i was just really sleepy) and I didn’t get a chance to finish it until right now. I’ll probably like it even more if I watch it in one sitting. Either way though, I was totally surprised by this and I genuinely really enjoyed it.
