Noah Kern’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is about as good as it gets. The Return is better than just about any show or movie I’ve ever seen in my entire life. It’s a haunting, depressing, slow, and terrifying piece of art. I don’t understand every bit of it, and I don’t have much to add to the conversation around it, but if you have even a mild interest in film, it’s worth watching this. In many ways, this is Lynch’s masterpiece. I can’t imagine he’ll ever make something that has as much to say as this does. It covers just about every topic you could ever think of. I don’t really love giving 5 stars on a first watch, but in all reality, this is probably deserving of it. Gonna keep it at a 4.5 for now, but it might go up. I feel an overwhelming sadness not only by the ending, but because of the fact that I finished this whole show. It took me many months to get through the original series and this, but the payoff is pretty big and makes it all worth it. If you count both this and the original series together and maybe FWWM too, I’d probably be lying if I said Twin Peaks wasn’t my all time favorite show, or at least one of my top two. This is a flat out masterpiece and I don’t know how else to describe it.
