I stopped watching when they started arguing about whether slavery or the Holocaust was worse…

Held up surprisingly well and I forgot that this is a legitimately clever satire of male toxicity and sexism.

    “In heaven, everything is fine”

A bizarre, surreal, unsettling, mesmerizing, dystopian nightmare that feels unconcerned with the needs or wants of the audience, the truest kind of artistic expression where Lynch reflects all his thoughts, feelings, fears onto the screen regardless of how it’s viewer might feel.

Eraserhead is truly an otherworldly film in that regard. Almost infamous for its incomprehensibility, the film almost flows as an abstract painting where almost all of it is left to the audience’s interpretation…

I’m sorry. I wanted to love this as much as everyone else but I just can’t.

Is it cool as hell? Yes. Are there amazing performances from some of the greatest actors of all time? Of course. Is Mann’s camera work the stuff of legends? Absolutely. But it was just lacking a certain emotional/personal connection which is everything I need in a movie right about now.

At least I had a good time, which I can’t exactly say for Fallen Angels, a similar Top 250 film I wasn’t so hot on.
