    An interesting world let down by a unfocused story and direction that needs more style. 

    It’s clear that between Westworld and this, Joy (and probably Nolan) have a great sense on how to build a world. There’s a lot of interesting ideas in this film: Miami’s residents being partially nocturnal, the design of the sunken areas of the city, the little bits of background about the war, etc. there’s a lot of nooks & crannies that’d be so interesting to explore…

    One part of my brain wants to torch it, really lambast it for its shoddy plotting, alien dialogue, and just baffling sense of tone. This movie is by no means a conventionally good movie. It is at times aggressively stupid in its leaps of logic and reveals. There are so many baffling choices when it comes to story structure and there’s no consistent tone at all.
