Wan's The Brood with flourishes of The Ring. A formidable antagonist, highly atmospheric direction, brisk pacing, and a plethora of influences pay off in this enjoyably derivative delight. J-horror, giallo, and 80's splatter are merged into a wonderfully gory hodgepodge that boasts an impressive body count and a welcome sense of humor. A vicious vision, both scary and silly.
