The minute William Hurt and Keanu Reeves enter the picture, it goes full gonzo mode. I had a good time. I paid $4.99 CAD to rent it from iTunes.
The most Doctor Who has felt like Doctor Who in a long time (with all due respect for last week's special).
My friend Seb made this! And it packs a whallop for a 45 minute feature. A confident debut, and unique for one made in 2023. I look forward to seeing this as a bonus feature on the Criterion Blu-ray edition of one of his future films.
Weirdly paced, and gives itself a pat on the back so hard it leaves a mark, but a good Doctor Who romp regardless. It’s nice to have the show in good hands again.
If you’re an Aki fan, you know the drill: romantic, minimalist, witty, authentic, sweet, film grain, unabashed Jim Jarmusch appreciation.
Haven’t really thought about how it’s been another 10 years - a full decade - since this aired. The hype for this still feels fresh in my mind. Melancholic!
Look, I just think it’s funny that, in each of his appearances on Doctor Who, John Simm forces the Doctor into a lil’ wheelchair and he gets pushed around in it.
“Martin, Amy is 25. That’s like 62 in Christian years.”
It hurts how perfect that joke is.
