gonna be honest here, i enjoyed this a lot, i'm pretty sure i got what was going on, and oh my god the sets, the shots, the lighting, the people were beautiful but my dad's snoring (he's not a night person), my own cough, and the post Natchathiram Nagargirathu effect (i knew this would happen, this is on me) proved to be a bit of a distraction - so i'm not even gonna consider ranking/rating/reviewing this until i see it again on amazon prime. fwiw i loved vanthiyathevan as a pseudo-protagonist, and the ensemble approach to this story proved efficient, karthi is so effortlessly charismatic, and likeable and feels perfect in the role of a silly, capable, horny (i mean, his reactions to kundavai, nandhini and poonguzhali would match mine tbh in that situation) adventurer - and of course, the direction and camerawork is typically stunning, talk about every frame a painting! i just need to see this again, to gather my thoughts and properly pay attention, i'm actually very excited to do so and am gutted that i wasted this first-time viewing chance. i'm so sorry mani ratnam, i will make it up to you by giving Kadal five stars or watching Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two in IMAX sixty-three times.
