Letterboxd — Your life in film

It’s not often that an unlikable character really works for me like in SHORTCOMINGS. It makes its social commentary and the topic of race in relationships more insightful and sharp. About taking chances, fucking up and learning. For the adults who don’t feel like one.

Unlikeable leads, I love you. I missed you.

i love watching films that take place where i grew up. anaita wali zada has such a grounding presence and gregg turkington is always fun. gorgeous to look at and great soundtrack. it’s a really nice film.

one of my absolute favourites. completely fantastic and never fails to make me smile. can’t say enough good things about it

absolutely unhinged stuff!! felt incredibly tense for the last 20 minutes especially but really the way this builds is masterful throughout. alison steadman is such a versatile performer and is insufferable in the best way here. also hearing all these characters voice their interest in tom jones just killed me. funny AND horrifying <3

It's another Rian Johnson whodunnit! But the only question I have is... how do I start dressing like Benoit Blanc?

More disappointing than actually not good, it just feels like it has so much potential to be something really daring and exciting but instead kinda feels like an unnecessarily longer version of a forgettable genre movie. 

I’m excited to see what Pereda does next though.
