i really enjoyed the schlocky weird/fun action that this film series has delivered (well this and the previous one, I'd recommend skipping the first)
i esp enjoyed the sprinkle of martial arts
i mean this in the best way, but this movie gives me late-90's-sci-fi-vibes more than modern-day-sci-fi-vibes and i love that. (and maybe that means I need to seek out more mid/lower budget sci-fi films when I wanna scratch this itch? idk)

lol not me pausing the movie to explain to my questioning boyfriend about how elizabeth olsen is scarlet witch and aaron taylor-johnson is quicksilver and how they are both magneto's kids so they are brother and sister in avengers and then pressing continue to them immediately making out with each other afterwards
just like most of Juzo Itami's this one stars Nobuko Miyamoto who as always is amazing.
I've been really enjoying Itami's films during quarantine. There's a very gentle warmth to them. Although this one certainly has a tinge of sadness to it given the knowledge that this film pissed off some Yakuza enough where they ended up killing him
that one scene with batman and morgan freeman with that whole scary cell phone surveillance set-up made me want to start a rewatch of Person of Interest. wonder if this script got the gears turning in jonathan nolan's head for it?
absolutely loved some of these animation styles even if most of the stories didn't stick their landing for me
