This was the first R rated movie I saw on the big screen. I was eight watching it with my buddy Steve and his dad at a now closed drive-in. I discovered the magic of cinema that night, when one of the villain's henchman was killed with a stalactite.
I saw the first Hobbit in theaters, but it didn't make enough of an impression for me to watch the sequels until this weekend. Now that I'm through them, I look onto my Blu-ray collection, eager to watch anything not based in Middle Earth, and say "Well, I'm back."
