I don't know why media about wrestlers (and by this, I only mean this and GLOW) is so compelling, while wrestling itself is the most unappealing thing ever. I imagine it's because they skirt around the culture and/or comment on it, while also showing how wrestling is choreographed and fabricated, which is by far the most fascinating thing about it, to me at least. It's a relatively common rise to fame narrative, but it's often funny, and occasionally moving, and how couldn't I love a movie about a Charmed-loving, goth woman wrestler who names herself Paige after one of the Charmed sisters? There were so many references to the show and each one filled me with glee! This was also my favourite Florence Pugh performance that I've seen.
