Lol yes I did see this movie for a third time — and every time in a cinema. Undoubtedly it's an emotionally draining experience, but also so wholly rewarding. Feel like I finally have the vocabulary to really talk about this film.
There's a lot of layers, but if I were to give one thesis, it's that Drive My Car is "about" the function of fiction to give voice to unvoicable feelings. Stories and art build bonds between people, allowing us to express feelings that are otherwise impossible to speak of.
