So so different from the novel but still an incredible film in its own right with an incredible soundtrack.
The loss of Himmelstoss was glaring and the impact that had on the character of Tjaden was fairly disappointing. Kat's death wasn't quite as impactful as in the novel and in the original adaptation, and the complete loss of the character of Kemmerich took away one of the most painful moments in the novel.
That said, I still cried like a baby and Albrecht Schuch was somehow gorgeous the entire time.
