It's probably been over a decade since I last watched Jaws but with its re-release in IMAX, I knew I had to catch it in theatres and experience one of the greatest blockbusters ever made on the big screen, something that truly did not disappoint. Even at over 45 years old, this is simply a sublime film in every possible way as its suspense is so excellently crafted, the scares still effective, and even its jokes are funny, all of it combining to make this such a terrific movie in every sense. Of course, Steven Spielberg deserves all the credit he received for directing such a masterpiece at such an early stage in his career and every aspect of Jaws, from the spectacular cinematography and John Williams' iconic score to rock-solid script and amazing editing, contributes to how it all works. The performances too are top-quality and the lead trio of Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, and Robert Shaw are just pitch-perfect in such well-defined and wondrously performed roles. At the end of the day, this really is as perfect as any blockbuster can get and getting the chance to see it in IMAX was such a great, once-in-a-lifetime experience as Jaws is the definition of a classic piece of cinema.
