• Zombieland: Double Tap

    Zombieland: Double Tap

    ★★★½

They’re back .. Once again it’s time to Nut Up or shut up... The original Zombieland is a cult classic and the thing is with cult classics is sequels can ruin the legacy but in the case of Zombieland 2 they did it justice. It takes place 10 years from Z day, they’re a real family now, they love each other, Tallahassee looks at little rock as his daughter and Columbus sees Witchita as the love of his life. All…

  • Zombieland

    Zombieland

    ★★★★½

This is one of my favourite movies so this might be biased. Zombieland spoke to me in so many ways it touches on loneliness, irrational fears, relationships and death all wrapped together by Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson in this quirky dark comedic story about unlikely friends surving by simply having each others back. I know that kinda story has been done many times in film but very few of them do it as good as Zombieland does. It’s a classic.

  • Downsizing

    Downsizing

    ★★★★

5 inches tall, betrayed by his wife, culture shock, mid life crisis and not to mention a lady bug could probably kill him. Matt Damon goes through the ringer in this movie. Downsizing, the concept of making yourself small as fuck (about 5 inches) to increase your wealth x10, save the planet and just have a better life in general ... at least that’s what Matt Damons character “Paul” thought. Paul, a physical therapist in his late 30’s decides to…

  • In the Tall Grass

    In the Tall Grass

    ★★★

This is one of those movies when at the end all you can say is “What the fuck” and clap, here’s my take on it. Normally I start my reviews with what genre or sub genre it is or lands near but this one has me a little fucked up so lets just call this genre “Chaos Horror”? The field seems to be some type of time paradox, in our world time is linear but in this field its not,…

  • Good Boys

    Good Boys

    ★★★½

First off, this movie is fucking hilarious. It encaptures the awkwardness, the need to find an identity, the want of validation and the heart pounding moments before you kiss that girl you like the first time. Everyone remembers going through all those things at that age so what makes it funny is the reality of it, when there’s a joke in the movie you think back for a few seconds to when something similar happened to you and it makes it 10x more authentic.

  • The Oath

    The Oath

    ★★★

Ike Barinholtz really impressed me with this one he’s been growing a lot the past few years, getting bigger roles and doing more projects. The Oath is a play on the division in The United States right now and on how fast any situation can turn ugly and fucked up.  Overall the movie was funny as hell, written and casted great and puts a mirror up to a lot of the chaos going on all over the world right now.…

  • Shutter Island

    Shutter Island

    ★★★★½

I was 11, maybe 12 when this came out. I skated an hour and half to the movie theatre on the other side of the city, I had only seen maybe one or two of Leo’s film and I snuck in cause I wasn’t old enough, I was a broke little black kid with ripped jeans and tape on my shoes. Shutter island was the movie that introduced me to how important film was/is to me. I just remember being…

  • Baby Driver

    Baby Driver

    ★★★½

I think “Baby driver” is going to be a cult classic it was just cool as fuck for real and not “lets make this movie seem authentic to relate to a younger audience who tends to share the things they watch” type cool. Seeing Jon hamm and Jamie Foxx in an antognist role working off each others energy kept me glued.  I stumbled upon this film by accident too, it’s a pleasant accident. Everything just fit.

  • The Social Network

    The Social Network

    ★★★★★

This movie is in my top 5, I fucking love it. The movie engulfs you into what feels like a time machine, you’re now back to a time before Facebook was Facebook but this time your along for the ride, a fly on what is a very important wall. - Jaye

  • Tag

    Tag

    ★★★½

I think this movie is slept on, critically it didn’t do well at all but let me explain why. When a movie has multiple A list actors people assume if its not a block buster hit its not a good movie, that’s just not true. “Tag” is a genuinely funny coming to age film. It’s about a group of friends who play an endless game of tag because they don’t want their friendships to fade away like most do, who can’t relate to that?

  • Between Two Ferns: The Movie

    Between Two Ferns: The Movie

    ★★½

This movie did exactly what it was meant to do, be a funny mockumentary. For a film with virtually no roll out its doing pretty well. I laughed my ass off the whole way through if you’re familiar with the orginal youtube show and you’re looking for something funny and different then this movie is for you. This is something you just watch, you don’t need to read into it or you’ll ruin it for yourself.

  • Annabelle Comes Home

    Annabelle Comes Home

    ★½

Okay, I guess ill be the one to say it. This movie is fucking terrible, this isn’t just some studio trying something new out, the Annabelle series is a huge series! There is almost no story line at all in the movie and when there is one you can barley follow it or have the “want” too do so. I was bored through out the entire movie. If you have a chance to go see “Annabelle Comes Home” instead take that money buy some weed and walk around in a dark basement for an hour and 46 minutes cause that sounds a lot better.
