Midnight Mass

Midnight Mass ★★★★

Mike Flanagan's latest miniseries delivers something different from what we're used to. In this one, there are no ghosts hidden in every scene and the viewer doesn't have to open his eyes wide to find them. It's not a story about a house that is cursed. And yet, the series does not lose what is so characteristic of this director's work; endearing characters that the viewer cares about, laughs with them, cries with them and identifies with them. A story full of terror, mystery and that hooks you from the first chapter. The production design is incredible, the alukah demon looks brutal and has a quite terrifying design. I am aware that this is a very general review, but I don't want to give details of a plot with quite intense and interesting twists and turns or of the characters, who sooner or later have to face their destiny. If you are reading this review, do yourself a favor and give this series a chance. You will see that you will not regret it. I look forward to Mike Flanagan's next projects, especially his Netflix miniseries. All three have been true gems and this one, the darkest of them all.
