  • The Power of the Dog

    The Power of the Dog

    ★★

I'm sorry but The Power of the Dog just isn't for me. Sure, it has beautiful cinematography and top-notch performances, but a story that is too slow and never really takes off simply made me lose any interest I might have had in this film. Two hours that feels like six, The Power of the Dog comes to feel pretentious, empty and without any purpose that ends up boring the casual viewer.

  • Jungle Cruise

    Jungle Cruise

    ★★

It tries so hard to be like the '99 Mummy movie that at no point does it build an identity of its own. Our leads don't have a shred of charisma and chemistry compared to Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weis so it's two hours that go on forever. Bad jokes, a ridiculous story and awful cgi make Jungle Cruise the disappointment of the year.

  • Venom: Let There Be Carnage

    Venom: Let There Be Carnage

    ★★

Venom 2 is nonsense, it's a missed opportunity. Fans of these characters deserve more than a movie where there is no plot, where these characters are greatly wasted and never reach their full potential. Carnage is a mythical being in the comics, a rival to be reckoned with even for the Avengers, with a fascinating and wicked history. Sadly in this movie he is reduced to a joke, I understand that they don't adapt the story 100% but changing him…

  • Dune

    Dune

    ★★

Dune is definitely not the Lord of the Rings of our generation. It is a film that comes to feel empty, soulless. And it is unbelievable that a film with a production of that size, has a script of a primary school child. Most of the characters are totally forgettable, we do not know their motivations, their loyalties and their past. They are simply there to serve a function and then disappear from the plot. Not even with Paul, who…

  • The Old Ways

    The Old Ways

    ★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I liked the way the movie started, showing how dangerous fanaticism and idiosyncrasy can be, even hurting others because of unfounded beliefs. I would have loved for the film to follow the same formula, showing an innocent young girl being exorcised by these people and her attempts to escape this madness. Unfortunately the movie changes completely and it turns out that it was all true, the demons were real and the young girl was possessed. A waste of an opportunity…

  • Spirit Untamed

    Spirit Untamed

    ★★

A children's film that offers nothing new or exciting. You know what it will deliver and at least it doesn't fail at that. However, the story is unrealistic and stupid, I know it's for kids but there were many ways to collect an exciting story about the relationship of a girl and her horse that wouldn't involve so much incoherence.

  • In the Heights

    In the Heights

    ★★

West Side Story is a musical about immigrants that works because it highlights the challenges that the Latin American immigrant community faced in the United States, from discrimination, gang violence and police abuse. It works because it uses a real context and it is easy for the viewer to connect with the characters because of this. There is nothing in this film that feels real, it completely fails to show the challenges that such a community can face on a…

  • Suicide Squad

    Suicide Squad

    ★★

The potential this film had to be something different from the conventional, to be something more serious and darker than what this genre is used to. I will never forget the first trailer for this movie, without a doubt it was a project that grabbed me from the first minute. And that ending, with that different laugh, that sick laugh of the Joker. I knew from that moment that it was going to be a great movie. Wow, I couldn't…

  • Nomadland

    Nomadland

    ★★

“You’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy”

  • The Green Inferno

    The Green Inferno

    ★★

I think this movie can be split in two. And it's not that I'm asking for it or in a good way, it's that there are practically two different films in one. The first introduces us to the stupidest and most insufferable characters I've ever seen in my entire life (they make characters in slasher movies look like geniuses). These idiots are not interested in creating a change in society, but only winning virtual points and people seeing them as heroes.…

  • Nomadland

    Nomadland

    ★★

A film that allows us to know a different lifestyle (And it doesn't show it as it really is).  Personally, I found the pace too slow (I rarely complain about this watching a movie), which can turn it into a hard-to-finish movie. Most of the film is exposure to this different lifestyle (again, it doesn’t show it as it really is)  and little is devoted to character building (we know very little about our protagonist) so there comes a point where it…

  • Bird Box

    Bird Box

    ★★

This movie is too long! It could easily be removed half an hour from the plot that would help speed up the plot and catch the viewer more easily. Honestly, you never see the creatures so instead of making the story more interesting it just makes it more boring, it's like they say screaming: we don't have enough budget! Far inferior to A Quiet Place, watch this film without any expectation or as the protagonists of this film, with a…
