    both these actresses are so striking (most important thing an actor can be)…the one that gets kidnapped looks like a mix between charlotte gainsbourg and geraldine chaplin and steven tyler, and the lesbian is really cool as well and brings a great physicality. the ending is nonsensical as has been said but in hindsight its just kind of funny. people calling it homophobic are so annoying.. i also was prepared for it to be even gorier bc of its reputation…

    the original isn’t one of cravens best and this isn’t any better, at least that one had the gritty DIY aesthetic and freaky ending. i guess this one has a couple good performances, i like the young son but it never captures that real primal grunting terror, it’s too stagey

    the real world has geometric concert halls and porsches gliding through tunnels and concrete walls and grey sweaters tied over tailored suits and a stage with just two chairs for you and your interviewer. but lydia tar hears screaming, and metronomes that never stop, and the click-clack of disembodied green boots, dogs staring down underworld hallways, dying old women splayed naked on the floor, the silent downbeat before the first note.
