We often talk about how earth-shattering it must have been to see Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho when it was first released in 1960, and while the reasoning for the audience's response is obviously much different, I can't help but wonder how the average person must have felt watching Metropolis in 1927. The film feels completely larger than life in ways that many modern blockbusters couldn't fathom. These large stylized gothic sets make the world feel massive, which is why it is…

One of the most important art projects in American cinema. An experimental critique of studio-led capitalistic filmmaking and purely just filmmaking itself. Gus Van Sant's Psycho is an extraordinarily special film, and while Hitchcock's original is obviously brilliant, I find myself way more drawn to and interested in this pop art curiosity. I am so fascinated by the nature of this picture and I heavily enjoy reading whatever I can about it.

Almost great? I’m not quite sure, there’s a lot to love though, and it’s definitely worth checking out. The last half hour is really something special. The problem is the first hour is a slog to get through, It takes so much time to build to the interesting stuff. Perhaps the biggest fault is during this whole first hour there’s really no suspense or tension built up; I never felt worried for any of our characters really until the last…

I have been recently creating a list of my favorite films, and I have noticed I have a soft spot for sequels. Rush Hour 2 is one of those great sequels that I prefer over the original, an absolute blast of a time from start to finish.

Very similar to Kid Cudi’s music, Entergalactic feels like a warm hug from a friend. A beautiful breath of fresh air that is very calming and fun at the same time. Kid Cudi is very charming and charismatic as the lead and Timothée Chalamet, of course, steals every scene he’s in. The animation style is obviously influenced by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and it looks really great. I love all the colors, but in particular, the purples are really beautiful.…

an absolute blast when you don’t have bitches in your ear telling you how they can’t remember any of the characters names
